Tae Kwon Do or TKD is a Korean Martial Art whose roots extend back many centurIes.  Modern day TKD was developed by General Choi Hong Hi after World War II ended the Japanese occupation of Korea.
Tae Kwon Do, translated into English means: "Way of the Fist & Foot, or a Way of Life."  TKD is known for its spectacular flying kicks and spinning kicks, but we also utilize a wide variety of blocks, strikes and punches.  A major misconception about TKD is that it is a violent skill.  The true practioner knows that TKD is a peaceful Art, with over a thousand defensive techniques, there is not ONE offensive move.  Training in TKD will help to build physical and mental skills, thus creating a stronger MIND - BODY & SPIRIT.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM TAE KWON DO?
Virtually anyone can learn TKD.  People of all ages and sizes practice the Martial Arts.  Through the practice of hand and foot basics, patterns, and sparring, the students develop LIFE SKILLS that they will be able to use in all aspects of life that extend beyond SELF-PROTECTION.  A unique advantage for each student is that everyone progresses at their own pace.
HOW CAN TAE KWON DO IMPROVE MY SPORTS?
Practicing TKD helps to sharpen the athletes ability to focus on the task at hand, therefore giving them the EXTRA edge to perform at a higher level.  Through the many drills and coordination games that we practice, our athletes are taught to MAXIMIZE THEIR POWER.  We teach the athlete to utilize all of their MENTAL - PHYSICAL & SPIRITUAL POWER.  The students' training can be utilized in the classroom, playing field or at work.
